About me
Toni Hager brings more than 20 years of experience to her work as a neurodevelopment specialist. Her passion began in childhood. She has some special needs, therefore, struggled through school before the days of Special Education. She desired that no other child would struggle. The Lord has a sense of humor!! Toni and her husband were blessed with two daughters (now adults) with extremely rare special needs; so, she spent years in PT/OT/SLP sessions!! Her mom would say, "God's preparing you for His work!" Toni's been a Girl Scout leader with girls with special needs, Sunday School teacher, tutoring, and many other volunteering opportunities. Toni Hager started homeschooling her children back in the '80s. Toni earned a BS in Applied Psychology as well as a BS in Developmental Psychology as well as over 300 Continuing Education Credits in how the brain learns, attachment, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Dyslexia, and developmental delays; in 1998. Toni Hager developed a keen interest in neurodevelopment after seeing first-hand her children's remarkable progress! She went on to complete training and certifications from the National Academy for Child Development (NACD). She also completed training and certifications at A Chance to Grow BOOST-UP (neurodevelopment and learning), Dyslexia, and JSAS auditory processing training. Toni Hager began working with families evaluating children and designing individual in-home programs.
Toni respected the work of A Chance to Grow, where students are evaluated for developmental stages and provided an in-school therapeutic neurodevelopment program as part of the school day. She saw the need for a similar school in her local area, and in 1999, she founded and opened Can Learn Christian Academy in Spokane, Washington. CLCA was a state-approved private K-12 school for students with special needs. Students had everything from being "fall through the crack kids" to AD/HD to all types of learning struggles to Autism to problems with anxiety to processing struggles and so much more. Can Learn provided rich, high-quality education, functional neurodevelopmental evaluations, programs, while supporting families with special needs in Christian principles and avoiding New Age influences.
It's now time for the next chapter of her life. Toni is closing the academy and semi-retiring to focus on using all that she has learned running the Academy to teach families to teach their children successfully as well as become a virtual academy!
Toni is pleased and thankful for the pleasure of working with so many beautiful families, given the opportunity to become friends with them. She will channel her time, energy along with the vast experience, knowledge and education consulting families to teach their children successfully at home.
The school has been a one-room classroom that started out of desperation and finished as a beautiful center of success!
She's so excited about this new path.
